Hey... That's me!

March 9th, 2001... Mikey is looking at a picture of himself on the internet. The picture is on a web page that was made for him, by a nice lady by the name of Peggy. You can click here to see Mikey's "St. Patrick's" page. Peggy has made a lot of nice things for Mikey on the internet.

Mikey has a terrible cough, that he can't seem to shake. The antibiotics run out and he still has the cough. He has only slept a few hours in the last 2 nights, because he has been up coughing. He went to his doctor again this week and got more antibiotics.. They think that his system is just not strong enough to fight off all the infections that are around right now. We're praying that God will intervene and he will get over this cough, once and for all. Mikey has his "big" doctor's appointment next week.. with his cardiologist. Thank You, Lord.

Getting ready for bed

March 16th, 2001... Mikey's cough is just about gone now.. Thank You, Lord.. He just saw his cardiologist again. Nothing has really changed, although we did get a little good news: We can wait a few more weeks before discussing the heart catheterization again. The last heart echo done in Little Rock showed a 68 degree blockage of the homograft (donor heart valve). If this is verified by the heart cath, they want to proceed with more open-heart surgery. Difficult as it may be, we are going to make an effort to obtain a second opinion. The heart cath alone can be dangerous, as some of the calcified material can become dislodged during the cath and move to the heart.

We explained how Mikey had spent the end of last winter and all of last spring in the hospital, and the doctor feels that it will be safe to wait until school is out.. about 9 weeks from now. So Mikey (and family) should be able to enjoy this spring. AND, Mikey will be a ring-bearer for his Big Bubba's wedding next saturday, the 24th. Mikey is a veteran ring-bearer now. He was ring-bearer for his aunt in '99, his sister last year, and he's already been fitted for his tux for Bubba's wedding the 24th... Look for the pictures in a week or so!

We still believe in miracles and we pray that Mikey will be completely healed.

May I Have This Dance?

March 25th, 2001... Ring-Bearer Mikey meets Flower-Girl Jessy! Mikey's big brother Jerry, and Jessy's big sister Tammy were married saturday. Mikey met Jessy at the rehearsal friday, and soon they were inseparable. Dinnertime conversation went like this...

Mikey: "Jessy, I think your hair is really beautiful."

Jessy (pulling a lock of hair to her cheek): "Oh, thank you, Mikey. The color matches my eyes, ya know."

These kids are TOO cute... AND, what smooth talkers for age 6 and 7! Mikey had a FANTASTIC time at the wedding. And while the wedding was great, I think the kids stole the show at the reception... dancing the night away!

Sunday morning, Mikey still had his tux, so he wore it to church. Pastor Don asked him to sing for the congregation before the end of the service. Mikey sang "Jesus Is Knocking At Your Door, Open Your Heart And Let Him In"... Mikey then prayed for the congregation... Pastor gave an altar call and several people came forward to accept Christ. What a great weekend... Thank You, Lord!
